Notorious BIG - "White Chalk II"
(Original Gangsters; 1996)
The reference track for Junior Mafia's "White Chalk" sequel is perhaps the most validating case study of Guru's voice gravid theory to date. Some of Biggie's most awe-inspiring performances were fairly pedestrian for a technician of his caliber. The vessel for this particular verse absolutely nailed the template laid out by his ghostwriter, but the importance of that otherworldly octave can't be understated.
