Nas & Young Jeezy - "Champion"
(Roman Reloaded; 2012)

Nas' biennial media blitz has officially commenced, which means an album will definitely arrive in the coming months. In just the last week, footage of interviews with Sway, Angie Martinez, Funkmaster Flex, Steve Stoute, and Peter Rosenberg have surfaced. Collectively, these interviews reveal a man content with his decisions, and grateful to still have an inkling of relevancy over two decades since cutting demos with Large Professor. This optimism has spilled over into some of his recent collaborations. Oddly enough, 'Champion' features Esco reflecting on himself as a naive 24 year old swimming in new money, reflecting on his adolescent bucket list, resulting in some cinematic ghetto Inception type shit. DJ Smu took the liberty of placing Nas' verse at the beginning, deleting Birdman's cash heifers, and removing the slightly annoying hook. Jeezy managed to deliver an impressive verse despite suffering from terminal lung cancer.
