The Absolute Greatest Rap Song of 2010

Roc Marciano: Snow
Roc Marciano is the Robert Asprin of this rap shit. It's easy to become immersed in the City of Marcberg. Themes introduced throughout his critically acclaimed debut are born into existence. "Panic" boosts your adrenaline, "Thugs Prayer" takes you to church, and "Riding Around" places you in the passenger seat. Sonically, however, no effort on the project captures my imagination quite like "Snow". As the title suggests the mood is most certainly gelid. During the song's initial twenty seconds I briefly find myself back in the mountains of Central Pennsylvania, escorting my dog off-leash through pure driven snow blanketing the local Game Land. Then the drums commence...

I love this song. It's my favorite of the year.

  1. The instrumental for Snow was playing loud on the speakers at Fat Beats LA the last time I stepped into that building. I'll forever think of Snow when I think of Fat Beats.
