In a weird way, Nas actually made the most mature Curren$y song of the year (bet you didn't see that coming - just wait), with one long ass verse packed with random references including (but not limited to) hood memories, hustling, making music, an abstract metaphor regarding family, an Obama reference, social observation, cocaine, Kim Kardashian's ass, and some other shit I forgot before I wrote this.
The references might be random, but Nas forces the listener to reflect on some serious shit and I appreciate that. The beat even has one of those Herb Alpert sounding horns reminiscent of a track or two from "Pilot Talk 2". To top it off, the song is titled "Last Real Nigga Alive II", despite the fact it has absolutely nothing in relation to the track from God's Son. Nonetheless, Nas manages to do this without breaking a sweat - probably because he didn't care to come up with a hook for this.
The only reason it's not the best Curren$y song of the year is because Nas forgot to talk about weed, cars and other people's women. Probably because he smoked too much Jamaican shit with the Marleys and forgot. Ironic, eh?
