43rd Greatest Rap Song of 2010

Reflection Eternal, Jay Electronica, J Cole, & Mos Def: Just Begun
While arguably the strongest posse cut of the year not featuring Kanye West, "Just Begun" consists of several peaks and valleys. At the risk of sounding cliche, and I hate to say this, Talib Kweli and J Cole just sound completely boring over Hi Tek's hypnotizing horns. I'm usually on the other side of this argument because I'm well aware the BKMC is at least half responsible for the best song of all-time, and Carolina's own is capable of connecting with the listener even if he refuses to do so quite often. Regardless, we have to take the good with the bad. I wish Kool G Rap was featured on "Live at the BBQ", but instead we got Joe Fatal. That's just the hand life dealt, and the cards really aren't all that bad. "Just Begun" is still a great rap song (the 43rd greatest of the year to be exact). Oh yeah, I should probably mention Mos Def and Jay Electronica ran this instrumental over with the Method Man jeep.
